Halloween is a scream. I mean what other time can you fill your yard with skeletons and not get sideways looks from the neighbors or questioned by the police? Everyone has their own feelings about Halloween, but it has become much more than just dressing up one night and asking your neighbors for candy. Halloween has become a day, actually a month or more, to unleash your imagination to create a show stopping yard display that entertains your neighbors more even perhaps than you.
Each year when the days of August are making me sweat and the mortal insect enemy, the mosquito, is bringing on its own torture, I start to dream about the cooler days of fall. This is when my heat induced daydreams fill with leaves falling from the trees and crunching underfoot as a cool breeze brings me comfort. I think it’s the color of those leaves that soon send me down the path of what shall my skeletons be doing in the front yard this year?
It’s just three little skeletons that basically represent my three, now grown children. Each one has its own personality. I always ponder the shenanigans I may have them partaking in for the display which is part of the planning fun. So, yes for me Halloween is a fun scream full of creativity and laughter….except maybe not so much for my very dedicated husband who has to engineer my spooky ideas.
